Healthy Habits

I just recalled recently something my tour guide in Turkey told the tour. He was explaining to us about Islam and how it works. I was quite confused at first but slowly understood. There was something he told me however, that left a lasting impression and really changed my perspective. Somehow the topic of Muslims having to pray 5 times a day came up. The inquiry was that it would be quite inconvenient for Muslims to have to pray 5 times a day due to work commitments and what not. However, my tour guide provided us an explanation that answered my questions.

Basically prayer 5 times a day satisfies one of the pillars of Islam. Apart from that, praying 5 times a day satisfies other basic needs of human being. If you were to pay close attention to the ritual, you would realize that it would provide one with a simple cardiovascular exercise. The kneeling and standing up and bowing. It helps blood circulation and breathing. In addition, doing it 5 times a day allows you to take a break from work or studies. Thus, it enables you to stay fresh. Of course there's also the spiritual part of it from praying. So mentally, spiritually and physically, you are refreshed.

Wow.
